Google asks not to mix up Rel=Canonical and Noindex

Written by

John Mueller from Google gave an amazing explanation about the differences between Rel=Canonical and Noindex signals and why you should not mix them up. Precisely, Google wants clarity in signals that are direct and constant.

When you begin to confuse Google by indicating that a particular URL is more significant than the other, but the other signal says opposite or you utilize Noindex to not show pages that you think are not as significant but want to pass on the weight to any other page, it can create confusion for Google and that can affect you.
