Google: No more Buying & Selling of links even for big sites

Written by

In a strong-worded statement, Google’s John Muller has clarified on Twitter that the sites who are involved in paid links, buying or selling of links to pass PageRank or manipulate the Google search results will now on be penalized as it is against Google’s webmaster guidelines, even big sites or Google itself won’t be spared if they do such things.

The above direction came after there were large-scale accusations on Wix, the popular free CMS platform that it was said to be informing its customers to link to Wix with specific anchor text, though Wix never entertained such allegations.

In reality, Google’s thing is that purchasing hyperlinks is throwing cash out of the window and so they devalue the ones hyperlinks vs demote the one’s hyperlinks.
