Instagram is testing out a ‘Promote’ option for format and stories format that works similarly to the boost option of Facebook, letting business accounts pay for the stories to get promoted in the user feeds. The ad option is getting tested all over the world, but there is still no specific date given for the official launch, according to a report by TechCrunch.
The Reasons for You to Care
Instagram stories get a lot of importance on the app. In the words of the company, 400 million users view the Stories every day. The company also mentioned that eighty percent of users follow a business or brand account on the app. It is useful for Instagram to provide businesses that lack proper management resources or ad budgets the choice to promote organic content to a large group of audience at a limited cost.
No specifications were provided regarding the cost of an Instagram story but a Page admin on Facebook can boost up a post for only $5. Thus, it is an economical option for all SMBs. Business accounts will get to target promoted stories (that have a link to the website or Instagram profile of the business) by location, to the people similar to the followers, or go for the complete set of ad targeting as provided by Instagram, according to the report. There is no response yet from Instagram about the matter.
