It is always difficult to explain non-SEOs how to rank a webpage. As it is a complicated process, you need to have knowledge on wide variety of details. The recent edition brings nine-point parameters of the major items to cross off to rank in the New Year and can have some idea to explain it to others.
1. Need crawlable, accessible URL whose content Google can easily crawl and parse!
Googlebot’s spiders would be able to come to this page, to understand the content present in text readable format, to understand images and visuals or video or embeds or anything else that you’ve got on the page in a way that they are going to be able to put into their web index. This is most important, even the rest of the items don’t matter.
2. Keyword Analysis
You need to know and identify the words and phrases that searchers are actually using to solve or get answers to the problem that they are facing. There is a primary keyword and a set of related secondary keywords that share the searcher’s intent. Need to do some SERP investigation or performing a search query in Google to know what you gather and then figure out what Google feels relevant to the keywords searches. Does Google think whether the content is appropriate to answer the searcher’s query that means you are trying to know the intent, the type of content that’s required whether there’s something missing? You just feel those gaps and take over the ranking position.
4. Need to have the most credible and amplifiable content writer or team of content writers to create content that can solve searcher’s query efficiently
There are three elements here. First, we want an actually credible, amplified content writers and the content. If that happens, amplification, link building and social sharing are more likely to happen, and our content becomes more credible, both in the eyes of searchers and visitors as well as in Google’s eyes too. That should be done in way so that it helps to achieve the searcher’s goal and solve their task and must bring an impression of better than anyone else does it.
5. Craft a compelling title and Meta description
Google still does use the Meta description quite frequently and extensively. Even higher percentage of times the title is also used. But the snippet is crucial in your SEO efforts, because that determines how it displays in the search result. The snippet is your opportunity to say, “Come click me instead of those other guys.” If you can optimize this, both from a keyword perspective as well as from a relevancy and the click perspective, you can really win.
6. Intelligently employ primary, secondary, and related keywords
Related keywords mean those are semantically connected that Google is going to view as critical to proving to them that your content is relevant to the searcher’s query — in the page’s text content. You have to prove to Google that you have the relevant keywords on the page.
7. Use rich snippets and schema markup to enhance the potential visibility
It may not be possible for everyone, but in some cases, if you can get the opportunity to use featured snippet and you can get the visual for that featured snippet along with that credit, or in the case where you can get rich snippets around travel or around flights, other verticals that schema is supporting that will be great. You should take advantage of those opportunities.
8. Optimize the page to load fast
Optimize your page to look great from a visual, UI perspective and from a user experience perspective, letting someone accomplish their task in an easy, fulfilling way on every device, at every speed, and make it secure too. Security is critical. HTTPS will certainly continue to be on focus for Google in 2018.
9. You need to have a great answer to the question: Who will help in amplifying this and why?
When you have a great answer that means a specific list of people and publications who are going to help you amplifying it and to earn solid links and mentions and word of mouth across the web and across social media so that your content can be seen by Google’s crawlers and by human beings, by people as highly relevant and qualitative.
